🦃 Ensuring a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving for Your Cavalier

ree

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to include your Cavalier, but a few precautions help keep them safe and comfortable. You can share small portions of dog-friendly foods like plain turkey meat, carrots, green beans, plain pumpkin purée, and plain sweet potato. These treats let them enjoy the holiday without upsetting their stomach.

Be sure to avoid foods that can be harmful, including turkey skin or bones, stuffing or casseroles (which often contain onions, garlic, and heavy seasonings), grapes and raisins, chocolate, yeast dough, and desserts with artificial sweeteners like xylitol.

Because holiday gatherings can get loud and busy, create a quiet space for your Cavalier with their bed, blanket, and toys so they can relax when overwhelmed. Try to stick to their usual feeding, potty, and walk schedule, and take them out for some exercise before guests arrive to help them settle.

Finally, be mindful of doors opening and closing—Cavaliers are friendly social butterflies and may try to slip outside in the excitement.

With a little preparation, your Cavalier can enjoy a safe, calm, and joy-filled Thanksgiving right alongside the family. Happiest of Thanksgivings from our Cavalier home to yours 🦃
